Prevent MacBook from sleeping while downloading a file: A lot of us use our computer for more than just Internet browsing. We use it to render or convert video’s, download/uploading large files, movies and many other things. It can be annoying to just wait for it to finish and move your mouse to keep the mac active and awake until your downloads or render is over.
You can’t really leave your mac settings on “Never” go to sleep because then that’s just draining and over exhausting the machine, especially when it’s night and you want to sleep ! of course you don’t want an alarm just to switch off your mac but at the same time you also want your work to be finished on the mac. So what do you do ??? How to prevent MacBook from sleeping while downloading a file ?

- Eye Pro helps to blocks out the blue light emitting from your Mac, which makes it easier for you to fall asleep. Eye Pro of Mac version can open the eye-protection mode for your Mac.
- Step 4: To stop or cancel the caffeinate command, press ^ Control + C OR use the command on terminal “Kill Caffeinate” This will return the mac to its normal sleep behaviours or whatever your power settings are; Method 2: Using the App Caffeine.
- Free Caffeine Software Download (For Mac) A moment ago, I just download a freeware Caffeine, a tiny program (less than 300k) to disable my Mac from automatically going to sleep mode, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Basically, it pretty simple to use. It appears as a coffee cup icon in the right side of menu bar.
- If you want to set a timeout so it will go to sleep after some amount of time, use this:
- caffeinate -t 21600
- (21600 is the Seconds, which makes it 6 hours)
Step 4: To stop or cancel the caffeinate command,
- press ^ Control + C
- OR use the command on terminal “Kill Caffeinate”
- This will return the mac to its normal sleep behaviours or whatever your power settings are
Method 2 : Using the App Caffeine
The app was launched and was popular before apple introduced the terminal command which is mentioned above. Caffeine is a tiny program that puts an icon on the right side of your menu bar. Click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back. Right-click (or ⌘-click) the icon to show the menu. how to stop mac from sleeping when closing lid

There are many alternatives, to be honest with maybe better features but Caffeine uses literally the least amount of resources from your CPU , almost none. It’s very light.
Step 1 : In the app store download the application (May is not available in all countries, So here’s the link for all others – Caffeine ) (App Store Link)
Step 2 : As you run it, it will appear in the menu bar
Step 3 : Click the caffeine icon on the menu bar
Step 4: Select the time frame
It will keep your mac running for that time period and it will not interrupt any of your downloads or processes, No screensavers and no bullshit. You can keep your mac with all lights gone but the system will run as per the time you have set 🙂
From the Editors Desk :
Just recently there have been more alternatives in form of application just like caffeine. One can even try Amphetamine which does the work and has some extra features than caffeine but I guess it’s really on what your needs are. Hope you found this helpful ! Home Page › How to download your files to iphone/ ipad using aloha
If you have an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad, you may have had difficulty downloading our music files directly to your device.
This is because iOS devices do not allow file downloads such as.mp3 files from the browser window.
Whether you are using Safari or Google Chrome, neither of these standard browsers will allow the music to be downloaded to your home screen or to your iTunes library.
As you will have read in our download guide, the most common way people transfer music to their iPhone or iPad is by first downloading it to a PC or Mac computer, and then by adding it to iTunes on that computer, plugging in their iPad/iPhone and transferring the files as described in our guide.
However, this may be problematic for you because: A) you may not have a computer to hand, or B) you can't work out how to do it.
Fortunately, there is a really good app that can solve this problem. It is a browser app called Aloha.
Once installed, you can use this browser app instead of Safari or Google Chrome to download your music to your iPhone or iPad.
Aloha allows you to download our music files and play the files back through your iOS device, so that you can listen whenever you want, even when your device screen is switched off.
Below is a step-by-step guide to downloading your files through Aloha so that you can play them back on your device. We have included screenshots to give you a visual overview of the process.
Aloha Browser App Music File Download Guide for iPad/iPhone
For this tutorial we have used iPhone screenshots. However, if you are using an iPad, don't worry because the process is exactly the same except for a couple of the icons in your Aloha browser window located in different places.
Step 1:
First, download the Aloha app here:
Once you have installed the app on your iPad or iPhone, do the following:
Step 2:
Tap on the Aloha app icon to start it up (it can be found on your home screen with your other apps).
Once inside Aloha, it will look something like this. Note that you have to skip the first screen when you open the app for the first time.
Step 3:
In the Aloha browser bar, type or copy and paste the following web address: https://www.binauralbeatsmeditation.com/my-account
Alternatively, type our home page address https://www.binauralbeatsmeditation.com and once at our website click on the ‘my account' tab in the top-right hand corner of the page.
Simply type our web address into the Aloha URL bar as you would when using Safari or Google Chrome.
On the ‘my account' page you will be asked to login with your username and password.
This will have been issued for you via email after you made your purchase. If you do not have this email, it most likely went to your junk/spam box, so check in there first.
If you cannot find your login information, you can email us and we will reset your password for you, or you can reset your password yourself using the password reset function on the my account login page.
Login with your username and password. This will have been provided to you by email after you placed your order.
Please note: your username will be the email address you placed your order with.
Step 4:

Once logged in to your account, navigate to ‘downloads’ on the left-hand side and tap on that menu item.
Here you will see a list of your downloads. These are your purchases.
On the right hand side, you will see orange buttons. When you click on these buttons, it will initiate a download. Use the buttons one by one to download your files.
Click on downloads to find the links (orange buttons) you need to download your files.
When you click on an orange button, Aloha will prompt you to download the file.
Aloha will ask you where you want to download the files to: you can choose from ‘media', ‘files', or ‘Download here'.
‘Download here' will download the files to your Aloha downloads folder; the other two options are simply pre-made folders within the downloads area.

You have a standard choice of 3 folders. ‘Download here' is the default option.
If you like, you can go into the Aloha home tab and create a new folder just for your music downloads. On the iPhone this is located in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, and on the iPad is located in the top left hand corner of the screen).
If you go into your downloads folder, you will see the file downloading in real-time.

Step 5:
To access and play the music once it has downloaded, tap the home button (the icon that looks like a house). On an iPad this is located in the top left hand corner of your screen, and on an iPhone it is located across the bottom of the screen.
Doing so will present your folder options, and depending to which folder you downloaded the music to, you can go inside that folder and find your music files. If you tapped on the ‘Download here' option, your files will be stored in your ‘downloads' folder.
I used the default ‘Download here' option, so the files appears in my downloads folder.
A music file will begin playing when tapped. The file will open in a music player.
